circa 1855, with damascus 30in. barrels, the top-rib signed 'NIXON GUN MAKER NEWARK' and marked for number two of a pair, platinum plugs at breech, fully borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'NIXON, NEWARK' (traces of colour), scroll engraved hammers, figured chequered walnut half-stock (cracked and professionally repaired at wrist in antiquity), iron furniture, gold oval to underside of stock engraved with a crown over a coronet, single take-down key (frozen) and no provision for ramrod
